Annamalai University Distance Education- It is one of Asia’s largest residential universities located in Tamil Nadu. The university has a huge campus of 1500 acres which offers higher education courses in science, engineering, humanities, agriculture, and arts. Founded in 1929, it was the first private University in India.
In 2013 it was taken over by Tamil Nadu Government. It covers more than 500 courses which include Undergraduate, Postgraduate, Diploma, PG Diploma, and Certificate, etc.

The University has been accredited with “B++” Grade by NAAC society. It has also got recognization from UGC (University Grants Commission) New Delhi and it is affiliated under DEB (Distance Education Board), New Delhi as well.
Annamalai University DDE – Directorate of Distance Education:
The Directorate of Distance Education, Annamalai University, has been established in the year 1979. The DDE offers more than 500 distance education Courses for students who can’t attend regular classes to pursue their higher education due to lack of money or lack of time.
Annamalai University DDE is well furnished with top faculty members, good infrastructure, advanced computer lab and strict administration which provide a great environment for studies in the campus.
Eligibility Criteria:
To get admission in Annamalai University distance education courses, the candidate should possess graduation degree or equivalent examination from any recognized university. The 10+2+2 pattern exams are not considered here.
Admission Procedure:
There are two easy ways to get admission to Annamalai University. These are mentioned below:
Spot Admission: The candidates who live near the study centers mentioned in Annamalai Distance Education Prospectus can apply for spot admission by themselves. If the candidate fulfills the eligibility criteria and has all the required documents, then he/she can easily get direct admission.
For Spot admission, the candidates must submit the following documents with the application form in person to any study center nearby.
- Properly filled application form along with attested Xerox copies of Certificates of eligibility, age, and qualifications.
- An Application form must have attested photograph affixed.
- Original qualification and migration Certificates.
- 2 Passport size Photographs for the purpose of paste it on Scanning Form and Identity Card.
- A Demand Draft of Course Fee drawn in favor of “The Director, D.D.E., Annamalai University.”
Admission through Post: The candidate who lives far away from the study centers can send a properly filled application form along with required documents to the university. The list of required documents has been mentioned below:
- Eligibility certificates
- Migration certificate
- 2 passport size photographs

The candidates who are willing to take admission through post should not enclose original certificates and D.D. with the application. On receipt of these documents, the university will give a provisional admission card to the candidate after that candidate has to verify his/her original certificates either by Registered post or in person.

- D.D in favor of The Director, D.D.E., Annamalai University via post/courier.
If the documents submitted by candidate found fake, his/her admission will be canceled and the course fee also will not be returned.
Fees Structure:
The Annamalai University Distance Education Fee structure varies from Rs. 12,000/- to Rs. 60,000/- according to the course you choose. The fee includes the cost of all the study materials which will be given at study centers at the time of spot admission or will be sent by post. The candidates can also study at study centers which include the library, study materials, Audio/Video lectures, previous year question papers, etc.
Examinations:
Annamalai University Distance Education are conducted twice in a year.The examinations are conducted in the month of May and the supplementary examinations for absentees and failed students held in December.
Placements:
Annamalai University has its separate training and placement cell which dedicatedly looks into the placements of eligible candidates. It has separate training programs on soft skills. It arranges in-plant training for students. The University provides campus recruitment opportunities as well which places students in India as well as abroad.
