Ignou MA Rural Development Admission 2018 – The Indira Gandhi National Open University’s School of Continuing Education (SOCE) has developed the master degree programme namely Master of Arts in Rural Development. It has been developed to serve the academic needs of the learners who want to pursue their higher education in the field of Rural Development.
The programme code for this discipline is “MARD”. The University offers admission to this programme to the students from all over the country and abroad.
The university has applied the two tier approach to study this discipline which means the examination for Ignou MA Rural Development courses will be held only after one year i.e. the students who takes admission to this programme in January session can appear for the examinations in December month of same year and the students who will take admission in July session can appear for the examinations in the June month of next year.
If the student is unable to complete any course in the any particular term end examination then he/ she may appear in the examinations which will occur in next six months.

Programme Objective:
The main objective of Master Degree in Rural Development (MARD) is to provide an opportunity to the learners from all over the country to study the development issues related to rural society.
It is very helpful for the people working in the various organisations such as Government Departments/agencies, NGO’s, cooperative banks and other institutes which are engaged in rural transformation.
After completion of this programme, the learners can further go for higher studies or they can apply for jobs in the related field.
Medium of Instruction:
The programme is available in both English & Hindi medium which means learners can choose any of the medium of instruction to study and write the Tutor Marked Assignments (TMA) and Term End Examination(TEE).
Admission Eligibility:
The candidate must be having Bachelor’s degree or higher degree in any discipline or equivalence from any of the recognized university.
The university hasn’t set up any minimum and maximum age limit to apply for admission. He must only satisfy the minimum eligibility condition i.e. Graduation to apply for admission.
Duration of Programme:
The minimum duration to complete the Master of Arts in Rural Development programme is 2 years whereas the students has been allowed the maximum duration of 5 years to complete all the courses to be eligible for receiving the master degree certificate.
Programme Fee:
The total fee is Rs.9,000/- which is required to be paid year wise @Rs. 4,500/- per year.
