The Indira Gandhi National Open University has divided the IGNOU Master of Arts in Rural Development courses into two years. In first year of study, there are five courses and all are compulsory which also includes the Project work (MRDP 1) which is equivalent to two courses whereas in the second year, the university has provided six courses out of which students has to choose five. The university follows the credit system approach for studying all the courses in which 1 Credit is equivalent to 30 study hours. All the IGNOU MARD Courses are of 6 Credits each except the MRDP 1 project work which is of 12 credits. The students has to pass out total of 66 Credits to complete the programme.
