IGNOU MCA admission 2019– The Indira Gandhi National Open University’s School of Computer & Information Sciences (SOCIS) has designed and developed the Master of Computer (MCA) programme for the students who want to pursue their career in the field of IT industry. The University has been offering admission to the students from all over the country.
It is a three-year master degree programme which has been divided into six semesters. It means the term end examination for MCA first semester subjects will be held in the month of June for the students who takes admission in January session.
The students who will apply for admission in July session can appear for next December term end examination. The students need to complete all the required courses within the minimum duration of three years and maximum duration of six years to obtain the degree.
Programme Objective
The main objective of this discipline is to provide the students the knowledge of computing courses and to prepare the graduate students for a productive career in the software industry.
The aim is to provide the students with the thorough and sound knowledge of theoretical and application oriented courses which are related to computer software as well as Web development.
It focuses on teaching the software technology which helps in solving mathematical, computing, communications/networking and commercial problems.
The Master of Computer Applications programme follows the semester system approach of study. If the students want to leave the programme after completion of first-year courses, they can do it and they will be provided with Post Graduate Diploma in Computer Applications (PGDCA) certificate by Ignou.
The learners should easily get the job in the field of Information Technology or ITES easily after completion of their master degree.
We have mentioned below the various details related to Ignou MCA admission such as eligibility criteria, duration, age limit. These are as follows:
- Medium of Instruction: English
- Admission Eligibility : The candidate must be having Bachelor’s degree from a recognized University and Mathematics as one of the subjects at 10+2 level or graduation level. In case, the candidate does not have studied the mathematics subject at 10+2 level, then he or she has to pass out BCS12 course concurrently with MCA.
- Course Duration: The minimum duration is 3 years and maximum duration is 6 years to complete all the courses.
- Programme Fee: The total fee is Rs.64,800/- which has to be paid @Rs.10,800/- per semester. The non-mathematics student has to pay Rs.1200/- extra in the first semester

IGNOU MCA Admission Procedure
The Indira Gandhi National Open University offers admission to Master of Computer Applications programme in January and July academic cycle along with many other courses. There are a large number of learners in India who want to pursue the higher education via distance mode.
So, every year many students apply for admission to master degree programmes. The students can fill up admission form in both January and July academic cycles.
The university publishes the advertisement or notification related to the admission in the month of November for January session and in the month of May for July session. The students can check the notification for the last date of admission.
The details about the admission form and prospectus etc. can be checked and download from the university official website. There are two ways in which interested candidates can apply for admission to distance learning bachelor degree course. These are as follows :
Admission by Online mode
The university has launched its Online Admission portal for the learners from all over the country to fill up IGNOU MCA Online Admission form. We have mentioned below the step you need to follow while applying for admission Online:
- Please open the website URL : https://onlineadmission.ignou.ac.in/
- Visit the “Apply Online” link at the top menu. Under this link, you will find the link “General Instructions” as a submenu. Just click on it and read out all the instructions carefully before filling up the online admission form for Bachelor Degree programme.
- On the General Instructions page, you will find a link to download the latest “Common Prospectus”.It is advised to read out the prospectus carefully so that you will able to understand the complete details about the IGNOU MCA programme.
- The applicants need to register themselves on the website to fill up the admission application form.
- The Application fee can be paid via Bank challan, Debit Card, Credit card or Net Banking.
- After submitting up to the application form and fees, please take the print out of the acknowledgment page for further reference.
Admission by Offline Mode
Important Note: Admission by offline mode is not offered any more. Students can apply for admission by only online mode.
In the offline mode, the students need to visit their nearest regional centre and obtain the prospectus by paying a fee of Rs.200/- in cash at the counters.
The students can also obtain the prospectus via a post by sending a Demand Draft of Rs.250/- in favour of IGNOU, New Delhi to the following address: “REGISTRAR, Student Registration Division, IGNOU, Maidan Garhi, New Delhi 110068″.
The students can also download the prospectus from the university official website.The application form can be cut from the prospectus itself.
The applicant needs to submit the filled in application form in a prescribed format, a demand draft of required fee and required attested documents in the respected regional centre.

Admission / Registration Status
The students will be able to check the registration status of the Master of Computer Applications on the university official website after the two weeks from the day of submission of admission form. In case you do not find your admission status, please contact your regional centre by visiting there or by speaking to them on phone.
IGNOU MCA Solved Assignments
To complete any MCA course, the student also needs to submit the solved assignment for it. Because the Tutor Marked Assignments(TMA) constitutes the 30% weightage of marks for any particular course. Also, before submitting the examination form,the students need to submit the MCA solved assignments.
Otherwise, their form will not be accepted. The students can find the assignment question papers from the university official website and they need to solve it and write it themselves as per the guidelines provided by Indira Gandhi National Open University.
After completing the assignments, the students need to submit them to their respective study centres before the last date of submission.
Examination
The Indira Gandhi National Open University conducts the term end examination for all its programmes twice in a year. Therefore, the examination is conducted in the month of June and December every year.
The students can fill up Online Exam Form to register them for the exams.
Also, they can easily download Ignou MCA previous question papers free of cost from university official website to prepare for the examination.
