www.icsi.edu, icsi admit card,icsi syllabus, icsi registration, icsi question papers, icsi results: The Institute of Company Secretaries of India is a statutory body setup under an Act of Parliament called the Company Secretaries Act 1980 to regulate the Company Secretaries profession in our motherland India. As written in the Act 2013 every company with a paid up capital of Rs. 5 crores or more is necessarily required to appoint a company secretary for full-time. ICSI had issued several notes and also organizes various lectures and conferences on Companies Act to make it even simpler, understandable and easier. A Company Secretary is the key person in every company who is an expert in various laws. The only person who is the chief advisor to the board of directors of the company regarding the corporate law is the Company Secretary. The qualification for a Company Secretary is prescribed by ICSI.
The ICSI is the only statutory body that awards certificate of membership of the institute. The certificate can be awarded only to that person who qualifies the exams prescribed by the institute. There are three levels in CS exams prescribed by the institute. The first level or the entrance exam for the company secretary course is the Foundation Programme.
All the students who are graduated or post graduated or those passed in the foundation exam conducted by the Institute of Cost Accountants of India or passed CPT examination held by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India or any other institution of accountancy is not required to qualify the CS foundation exam. Rather he/she can get direct admission in the CS executive programme.
Foundation Exam Pattern & Timings: This exam is conducted in two sessions i.e. the morning session and the afternoon session. The Morning Session held from 10:00 am to 11:30 pm which consists of two subjects the first one is Business Environment & Entrepreneurship and the second one is Business Management, Ethics & Communication. The afternoon session held from 1:30 pm to 3:00 pm which again consists of two subjects the first one is Business Economics & the other one is Fundamentals of Accounting & Auditing. All these subjects contains 50 questions of 100 marks in each subject.
Qualifying Marks in the Foundation Programme: To pass the foundation programme one has to get 40% marks in individual subjects and 50% marks in aggregate atleast. And also there is no negative marking in the CS Foundation Exam. Now, after qualifying the foundation exam the next level is CS Executive. The Executive Programme contains two modules. Module 1 has 4 subjects i.e. Company Law, Cost & Management Accounting, Economic & Commercial Law, Tax Laws & Practice. And module 2 has 3 subjects Company Accounts & Auditing Practices, Capital Markets & Securities Law and Industrial, Labour & General Laws.
The next level is Professional Programme and the practical training under a practicing Company Secretary.
A person who qualifies all these levels prescribed by the Institute of Company Secretaries of India is given the membership of the ICSI and is called the Company Secretary.
